Elton John Announces Summer US & UK 2012 Tour Dates : With a very special performance at the Electric Proms on the 28th October Elton John has announced he will play three shows next summer with his band. Shrewsbury, Northampton and Hove will play host to him as he undertakes a limited number of shows.
Elton John tour will make a triumphant return to Northamptonshire and Sussex in 2012. He graced the gardens of Castle Ashby, Northamptonshire in 2000 and sold out the County Ground Hove back in 2006. However, this will be his first ever performance in Shrewsbury.
He has staged many hugely successful concerts in football stadiums and cricket grounds around the country in the past, all three of these outdoor concerts will be staged within the existing facilities of the grounds, with reserved seating on the field. October 25th is the release of his critically acclaimed album with Leon Russell The Union (Mercury Records). Elton John concert tickets will go on public sale on Thursday October 28, 2012 at 9am. Following his European leg, he is scheduled for a three year run at Ceasars Palace's Colosseum. Titled The Million Dollar Piano, it will feature a new Yamaha piano created specifically for the show, and the chance for audience members to join the legendary singer on stage.
Elton's previous Vegas show The Red Piano was so popular that its initial three-year, 75-show commitment was expanded to 241 shows over five years. If that's anything to judge by then Million Dollar Piano should be just as popular. There is already plenty of opportunity to see him play and there could be more. Elton John announces Las Vegas concert residency Elton John to return to Caesars Palace for three-year run with his Million Dollar Piano show. Elton John will spend the next three years in Las Vegas. Just two years after his last concert series, the singer is heading back to Caesars Palace for a residency that will run until 2014. "[The Palace] is just a perfect, idyllic place to play," he said.
Elton John is no stranger to the city of casinos and cabarets. By the time he wraps up this new residency, billed as the Million Dollar Piano show, he will have spent eight of the last 10 years on the Las Vegas strip. When he opened at Caesars Palace in February 2004, he planned just 75 performances of The Red Piano show. But this was expanded to 241 dates, including short visits to England and continental Europe.
The Million Dollar Piano show is named after "a fabulous piano that Yamaha has been working on for four years", the entertainer explained. The singer will be accompanied by a full band, including percussionist Ray Cooper. Though further details of the show have yet to be announced, he promised "a gargantuan feast of music and imagery".
This week, he was also unveiled on the debut album by Glee star Matthew Morrison. "He gave me free rein," Morrison told the New York Post. "It took me three days to get through his whole collection because he's got so many songs." The pair duet on a mash-up of Rocket Man and Mona Lisa and Mad Hatters. "It's a beautiful, epic seven-minute song, and it's my favourite on the album," Morrison said. The track is available for download now.
He is currently on a world tour, with UK dates beginning in Scarborough on 5 June. His Las Vegas residency begins in September 2012, with tickets on sale 25 April.
